Beginners C2C stitch, cushion

C2C - Corner to Corner

For me, its possible the quickest stitch I do, blankets work up pretty quick any size from baby to Queen. Adjusting the pattern to fit your size is easy, have the measurements you want the blanket to be to hand, pattern away until you reach the length of one side, then stop increasing (decrease, but we don't actual remove stitches, just shorten the row) for the other side.

The pattern below is for a cushion cover, 2 sides seamed together.
I've detailed the stitches and rows to suit a beginner, once the pattern is established its the same one row repeated.

C2C basic instructions
Cushion cover

Instrucions
Cover for a 16" cushion
Each size is 27 squares x 27 squares ( square = 3 dc group)

Slightly different to a lot of C2C patterns, I use a ch5 instead of a ch6 and a ch2 instead of a ch3 as I find this way the spaces between the squares are less noticeable.

Pattern

Using  u.s  terms
dk yarn
size 4 hook

sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
ch - chain
ss - slip stitch

Make 2 sides.

ROW 1
ch5, 1 dc in each of 3rd, 4th, 5th ch from hook.

ROW 2
Turn, ch5,  1 dc in each of 3rd, 4th, 5th ch from hook

ss into space between starting ch and dc,
ch2, 3dc in space. ( space - the space between ch and dc)

ROW 3
Turn, ch5,  1 dc in each of 3rd, 4th, 5th ch from hook
(ss into ch space of next 3dc group
ch2 3dc into same sp) repeat to end.

                                                                AND THATS IT!!!!!!
Keep repeating row 3 for 27 rows, or whatever size you need.

To change colour

On the last step of the last dc, use your new colour and continue with pattern

When your side is long enough and you want to stop increasing ( I stopped after 27 squares)

Decrease
At end of the row, turn and ch2 ss into 1st ss .ch2, 3dc in space. and continue with pattern.
Do this decrease on both ends when working a square, The rows will get shorter after each turn , making them quicker to do.

I edged each side with a sc row

 ch1 2sc in each 3dc group ( 1dc after 1st dc, 1 dc after 2nd dc)
and 2 sc in each space.
sc ch2 sc in corners, join to ch1 at the end.
Depending on your tension you may want to alter the number of sc stitches, as long as the piece lies flat and doesnt stretch from too many sc. Use your best judgement
Attaching both sides
I like the look of the raised seam, but join using whichever stitch you prefer.
With wrong sides together ss through both sides around, until you have enough space to insrt the cushion.

With cushion inserted finish ss around and join.
